United CEO, Oscar Munoz, is the newest resident on the 57th floor of Chicago‘s Water Tower Place — and now lives in the former condo of Oprah Winfrey. As we reported earlier this year, Munoz and his wife purchased the property for $3.55 million in February, thousands less than its asking price of $3.7 million.
In the Oprah days, her former residence occupied a sprawling 9,625 square feet in Water Tower Place. But since she sold it in 2015, the space was split into multiple units and each was renovated. The condo purchased by Munoz is three-bedroom, 3,400-square-foot unit outfitted in sleek, modern design — as seen by newly released photos in Chicago Magazine.
Each of the three bedrooms has an en-suite bathroom. Other features include a powder room, a library, a family room, a wet bar area, a large kitchen, a living room and a fireplace. And don’t forget: sweeping views of Lake Michigan.

Elegant and historic, this 9000 square foot Georgian home is a treasure of the Gold Coast and currently for sale. Originally built in 1897, the home was later purchased by Hugh Hefner in 1959 and became known as the “Playboy Mansion,” until the property was acquired by the School of the Art Institute in 1974 and bisected into residential units, college dormitories, and eventually luxury condos.
Now on the market, the 5-bedroom home at 1336 N. State has been lovingly renovated with the finest of materials and reimagined for the sophisticated buyer, who enjoys both beauty and functionality. “Experience the ease, grace, and grandeur of this spectacular home, saturated with light,” says the listing agent, Katherine Malkin. Chicago’s Gold Coast neighborhood is home for Bill and Giuliana Rancic. The celebrity power couple known from E! News,The Apprentice and RPM restaurantslive in a beautifully restored brownstone with their 5 year-old son, Duke.
The Rancics purchased the home in March 2013 for $2.125 million, with many of its original pre-fire Victorian features in tact. Since then, they have undertaken a series of renovations to modernize and personalize the home, located at 105 E. Bellevue Place. The couple enlisted interior designer, Lonni Paul, to transform the space in a fresh, blue-and-white focused palette.
Bill Rancic grew up in nearby Orland Park, IL and always had sights of moving back to Chicago with Giuliana to raise their family.
“This city has everything to offer, including a community of people with strong Midwestern values,” Bill says of his hometown, and especially their neighborhood, within walking distance of shops, their restaurants, and Lake Michigan. “We knew the family who lived here before, and they put a great vibe in this house that we hope to continue. We’ve always had one foot here, and now we have two. Finally, we’re home.”
