Living In A Tupperware Box Doesn’t Seem So Bad

Have you ever wondered what it feels like to live in a Tupperware box?

A $40,000 affordable shipping home in Costa Rica is pretty awesome.

Designed by architect Benjamin Garcia Saxe, this project turns two 40-foot long recycled metal boxes into a sleek 1,075-square-foot residence that can hang tight with the best of designer prefabs.

The strikingly simple residence, costs less than the price of social housing provided for the country’s poorest residents. Saxe focused on rethinking comfort in a compact space. “The key factor was cost, which allowed them to take the risk without putting everything on the line,” Saxe says. “Once they realized size wasn’t what gave them happiness—location was more important—it was easy to move forward.”

This place is very sleek! We can’t forget to mention it’s gorgeous, too!

And when you are living in Costa Rica you will enjoy the country’s long stretches of deserted and undeveloped beaches, on the Caribbean and Pacific Coasts…dense jungles teeming with exotic wildlife…towering volcanoes, lush green valleys, mountain villages, bustling market towns, quiet rural areas, and hundreds of crystal-clear lakes, rivers, streams, and waterfalls. All these things, and much more, make living in Costa Rica such a draw for retirees and other expats.
